Crows, bridges, and a legendary pork stew — all that descend from an ancient land divided by a river. A reference describing its rising tides in the Malay language was later transcribed and mistaken as its name of place by Hokkien Chinese immigrants. We translated Klang's unique symbols into graphics to represent the city's historical milestones, sometimes on mugs with stories to tell.

One of us loves playing with contemporary Chinese typefaces, especially into a combination of letters and symbols. For a non-governmental organisation whose mission is to nurture cultural creativity, we thought it would be wonderful to present them in the simplest of shapes and colours — a playful community.
